We suppose 3/22 isn’t an awful outcome on a day where the quarterback completed only 11 passes, but supposed targets hog Robinson is falling further and further behind No. 4 overall pick Carnell Tate, who is suddenly stacking impressive box scores and highlight-reel plays. You would like for that to eventually add an extra element to this anemic offense — and perhaps more play volume — but until it does, Robinson is looking like little more than a last-gasp WR4 in fantasy.
Johnson was silent in a low-efficiency passing day for the Saints offense. The tight end position in general was a non-factor as a pass-catching group on the day. As Tyler Shough deals with broken bones in his non-throwing hand, the Saints’ passing game is tightening up and has less room for Johnson. He is a fantasy TE2 for Week 7 against the Steelers.
Rodgers and the Steelers couldn’t get anything going through three quarters. They had just three points on the board and Germie Bernard check-downs were their only method of moving the ball. Even that was barely working. Running out of options, Rodgers simply started forcing the ball to DK Metcalf. He targeted Metcalf 12 times in the fourth quarter and overtime. The Steelers scored 16 points in the fourth quarter and another seven in the extra frame. Rodgers now has at least 230 yards and multiple touchdowns in four straight games. The Steelers’ pass-crazed approach under Mike McCarthy has kept him in the QB2 mix so far, and it will do so again when he faces the Saints next week.
Pollard was targeted only once, finishing without a reception. Pollard has somewhat surprisingly banished No. 2 Tyjae Spears to pure breather back status, but the Titans’ overall play volume and touchdown opportunities are so limited that he is still struggling to achieve weekly RB2 status. He has nevertheless shored up his RB3/FLEX floor. That is where you will find him in the Week 7 ranks against the Browns.
Swift again dominated backfield touches for Chicago with Kyle Monangai sidelined with injuries to his toe and hand. Roschon Johnson had 13 carries, with most of those coming after the Bears had raced out to a big lead (before that lead dwindled in the fourth quarter). Both of Swift’s touchdowns came inside the ten yard line. Swift should be locked in for at least 15 touches in Week 7 against the Patriots if Monangai remains sidelined. His involvement in the pass game provides a nice weekly PPR floor.
Gardner injured his left calf today, which is concerning because he injured the same calf twice last year. The first injury occurred in Week 13. He resumed playing in Week 17, lasting 35 snaps before re-injuring it. Gardner was labeled questionable to return following today’s injury, but he never made it back onto the field. He will likely undergo imaging on Monday. Stay tuned.
Flowers has yet to find the end zone in back-to-back games with Tyler Huntley under center, but the 10 targets per game he has averaged over that span is still encouraging. Flowers led the Ravens in targets by a wide margin in this week’s loss, with his biggest play coming on a 31-yard reception in the third quarter. Scoring opportunities were scarce in this one, as the Ravens managed just 10 points on their first two drives and were shut out for the rest of the game. Flowers will be in the WR1 conversation next week against the Bengals if Lamar Jackson (ankle) makes the start, but would be more of a WR2 if Huntley gets the nod for a third straight week.
Jeudy made the most of his limited volume in this one, with his longest play coming on a 33-yard reception on the final drive of the game as the Browns were driving down the field to complete the comeback victory. This was easily the best game of the season for Jeudy, who hadn’t gone for more than 36 yards in any other game this season. He’s seen four or fewer targets in four of his five games played and won’t be on the fantasy radar heading into Week 7 against the Titans.
This game was never quite as easy as many thought it would be given Philadelphia’s injuries. Young looked pretty good, but he was often under pressure, and the Panthers continued to make things harder on themselves with 13 penalties for 149 yards. A few of those really killed the momentum on some Panthers drives. Still, Young made enough big throws and receivers were schemed open into space repeatedly throughout the day. We’d expect that to continue next week against a Bucs defense that might not be as talented as this Eagles one.
Robinson couldn’t get anything going against a Chicago defense allowing the fifth highest rate of yards before contact. The Bears were intent on snuffing out the Atlanta rushing attack and forcing Michael Penix to move the ball through the air. It worked for much of the game. Robinson, who had 425 rushing yards in his previous three games, remains the engine of the run-heavy Falcons offense and should get back on track in Week 7 against the Niners.
McCarthy’s first play of the game was a read-option where he kept the ball and rushed for a loss of two yards in the red zone. With the Giants down 24 points in the fourth quarter, McCarthy replaced a struggling Jameis Winston and started throwing several deep targets downfield. He threw an interception his first drive but led multiple successful drives late in the fourth quarter. Charlie Jones corralled a 49-yard pass away from a defender, making a near-interception into a long completion for McCarthy. Martin Emerson dropped an interception later in the drive before McCarthy connected with Isaiah Likely for a touchdown. Averaging 11.6 yards per attempt, McCarthy was one play away from leading a comeback against the Saints. Instead, we will wait to see if John Harbaugh will name the 23-year-old the starter for Week 7 against the Texans; he would be a fantasy QB2 if he starts.
Johnson has been highly efficient as the Bears’ No. 2 back over the past two games, with Kyle Monangai (toe/hand) sidelined. Johnson saw much of his opportunity in the second half with the Bears up big. Johnson slid down at the two yard line late in the fourth quarter to allow the Bears to run out the clock and secure the victory. In Chicago’s run-first offense, Johnson in Week 7 against the Patriots will be a deep league flex play if Monangai remains sidelined.
Maye added four carries for 24 yards rushing. The three-score passing effort was his third in as many weeks, while he is now up to 11 total touchdowns during his three-game hot streak. Good stuff, though it could have been much better. Maye lost No. 2 receiver Romeo Doubs to an early shoulder injury after he housed a 42-yard touchdown, while returning “No. 1" A.J. Brown had a nightmarish day with 4-5 drops, including several long gains and a potential score or two. Pop Douglas also lost a fumble at the end of a long catch-and-run. Unfortunate, but Maye is at least playing well enough again that those miscues merely held back his final box score instead of ruining it. He now has a likely short-week shootout in Thursday’s Bears road tilt.
This looked like a possible concussion. Grupe will be credited with tackling Cardinals returner Devin Duvernay because he technically knocked Duvernay out of bounds, but the engagement proved costly. Duvernay got behind the Rams’ punt coverage, and Grupe valiantly lowered his shoulder in an attempt to bring Duvernay down. Duvernay responded in kind and sent Grupe tumbling to the ground before jogging out of bounds. Grupe struggled to get up and was eventually helped off the field. Rams P Ethan Evans is the emergency kicker.
It wasn’t easy for Hubbard, who didn’t have many runs over 10 yards, but he ran hard, broke tackles, and was able to find the end zone in the fourth quarter for a short touchdown run. Still, the Panthers did have some issues running the ball up the gut against the Eagles and continued to do it, rather than try to get Hubbard going on the edge. Trevor Etienne was the only other running back to have a carry in this game, and he had just one rush, so this backfield belongs entirely to Hubbard, which is tremendous for his fantasy value.
London couldn’t get much going against Chicago’s middling secondary outside a 39-yard grab in the second half, with the Falcons abandoning the run game as they faced a three-touchdown deficit. Michael Penix missed London in the first half on what could have been a fairly easy 30-yard score with a better placed throw from Penix. London almost came down with an end zone target too. No other Atlanta pass catcher had more than seven targets on the day. London will remain a top-10 option in Week 7 against the 49ers.
Active for the first time since Week 1, Brown had an even more disastrous outing than that inefficient box score would attest, as he was charged with at least three official drops and could end up with 4-5 when it is all said and done. One was a potential long score where the ball literally went through his hands. It was unbecoming of a highly-paid No. 1 wideout. Brown also looked stiff moving side to side, and might not be particularly close to 100 percent health returning from his high-ankle sprain. We assume things can only get better from here, but they absolutely have to in Thursday evening’s short-week potential shootout with the Bears’ leaky defense.
Coker missed Week 4 with a quad injury but was able to heal up over the bye week and play a full complement of snaps in Week 6. Initial reports had him playing 59 of the team’s 79 snaps and running a route on 39 of 46 dropbacks, which was second most on the team. He also led the team in targets, catches, and receiving yards. He’s a rock-solid WR2 against the Bucs next week.
The Saints had their usual slow start on offense, going scoreless in the first quarter. Shough then did what he does best and led an effective offensive effort the rest of the way. He is dealing with broken bones in his non-throwing hand and it arguably impacted some of his throws, missing open receivers and struggling to push the ball downfield. Though he averaged 4.8 yards per attempt, he totaled three touchdowns on the day. Shough was also impactful as a runner, totaling 32 yards and a tush push touchdown on the day while also getting tackled inside the five-yard line on another rush. Two straight games have been impacted by Shough’s hand injury but the post-first quarter volume continues to elevate his fantasy floor. Shough is a high-end QB2 for Week 7 against the Steelers.
Cuevas scored his first opening touchdown on the Ravens’ opening drive when he hauled in a two-yard pass from Tyler Huntley to give his team the early lead. On the second drive of the game, Cuevas would pop up for a 29-yard reception that helped position the Ravens for an eventual field goal, as the rookie tight end was instrumental on both scoring drives. Cuevas only ran 14 routes in this one compared to the 25 Mark Andrews ran, but he was easily the more reliable tight end on the field for Baltimore. This is likely a one-off performance for the rookie fifth-rounder, so we don’t advise chasing these points heading into Week 7 against the Bengals.
Williams was all the way back in this one, returning to action after three weeks on the sideline recovering from a hamstring injury. His only real miss of the day came on a ten yard throw to Colston Loveland that should have been an easy touchdown. Williams tormented the pass-funnel Atlanta defense with middle-of-the-field throws, along with typical out-of-structure passes to the sideline. It was an impressive outing against a Falcons defense giving up the league’s fifth lowest drop back success rate. Williams should remain in lineups in Week 7 against the Patriots.
McMillan saw a lot of Quinyon Mitchell in tight coverage on Sunday, but he had a solid day that could have been much better after a fourth-quarter pass went off his hands in the end zone. It would have been a difficult catch with Mitchell draped all over him, but it was a catchable pass. More importantly, it shows that McMillan remains a key piece of this passing game, and he did run the most routes of any receiver on the team.
The Panthers seemed a little concerned about the Eagles’ pass rush since Tremble played on 54 of the team’s 79 snaps. He also was on the field for more than half of their dropbacks, but a large chunk of those were in pass-blocking situations. Still, he was schemed wide open on both touchdown passes, which led to a great fantasy day. It’s just not something we would recommend chasing next week.
Initially deemed questionable, Doubs was ruled out in the third quarter. Doubs landed hard on his shoulder on his first target, which just happened to be a 42-yard touchdown where he broke free along the back line of the defense. Most unfortunate, though he at least tallied the score first. Doubs was evaluated in the blue tent before heading to the locker room. It’s bad news for the Pats and fantasy managers, but at least comes as A.J. Brown is back in the lineup for the first time in five weeks.
