49ers general manager John Lynch said the team would continue starting Eddy Pineiro after the team’s Week 7 bye. 2026-10-27 14:00:02 Lynch in a Tuesday interview acknowledged Pineiro is “going through a rough patch” but committed to sticking with him for now. “We have a lot of belief in Eddie,” Lynch added. “He has had a tough run early this year, but we extended Eddie for his body of work with us but then throughout the history of his career.” Pineiro has missed three of his nine field goal tries on the season and four of his 25 extra point attempts. Pineiro, who made 96 percent of his field goal tries in 2025, will have at least a couple more games before the Niners brings in kicker competition. |

49ers K Eddy Pineiro (illness) is questionable to play in Week 2 against the Dolphins. 2026-09-18 18:00:02 According to ESPN’s Nick Wagoner, the 49ers will sign a kicker to the practice squad as insurance, in case Pineiro cannot play. This is unfortunate. The 49ers’ starting kicker should bank a decent number of extra points, and ideally field goals, against the Dolphins this week. |

49ers K Eddy Pineiro (illness) did not practice on Wednesday. 2026-09-17 19:00:02 NFL players generally play through illnesses. We expect Pineiro to be active on game day, though two absences are a bit concerning. Hopefully, he is back on Friday. |

49ers K Eddy Pineiro (illness) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice. 2026-09-16 20:00:02 Pineiro was a non-participant in practice due to an illness. It’s still early in the week, so the 31-year-old kicker will likely return in time for Week 2 against the Dolphins. |
