News for Spears, Tyjae
Tyjae Spears (knee) won’t play in Tennessee’s Week 8 game against the Bengals.

Spears had three DNPs and has not practiced since last Thursday. Michael Carter filled down as the third-down back last week, though all that actually meant is that Tony Pollard got full-time workload. We expect that to continue in Week 8.

With two DNPs to start the week, Spears looks unlikely to play on Sunday. He also missed Week 7 with the knee issue. Tony Pollard racked up 28 touches and scored three rushing touchdowns. While we’re not banking on another multi-score outing anytime soon, his role alone is worth an RB2 ranking if Spears remains out.

Spears had been playing through the knee issue for a few weeks before being sidelined because of it in Week 7. A DNP today suggests he will miss at least one more game. Tony Pollard will handle the bulk of the backfield touches again this week. He remains a volume-based RB2 versus the Bengals.

Titans declared RB Tyjae Spears, WR Calvin Ridley, RB Nick Singleton, TE Kylen Granson, T Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, DT Jackie Marshall, and CB Jaylon Jones inactive for Week 7 against the Browns.

As Spears’ knee injury lingers, Tony Pollard continues to see a nice but ultimately meaningless workload in the Tennessee backfield. Pollard has seen at least 14 carries in every game since Week 2, though he only has eight receptions on the season. His lack of involvement in the pass game means Pollard will be a touchdown-dependent flex play in Week 7.

Tyjae Spears (knee) is questionable for Tennessee’s Week 7 game against the Browns.

Spears has been active off a questionable line twice since Week 4. We’d imagine he’d get there again after a limited Friday session. The touch upside just isn’t there for him to be more than a deep-league FLEX play at this point.
