It was an estimated session, but one that probably bodes pretty prescient since Hufanga left Week 5’s game with the ankle injury and was ruled out. Riley Moss (ribs) was listed as limited and would appear to have a chance to come back after being ruled out for Week 5.
With the Seahawks preparing to face the Broncos on a short week, it would be a bit more concerning if JSN were listed as a DNP. The team listing him as limited on the first day of the week is encouraging after he clearly battled through an ankle injury in Week 5’s loss to the 49ers. Smith-Njigba still topped 100 receiving yards for the fourth time this season and made several big plays despite being in visible pain. We’ll continue to update his practice status throughout the week, but as long as he’s active come Thursday, JSN should be in your fantasy lineups.
“Malik needs to be better, but that’s not the headline -- we all need to be better ... everything in the pass game has to be better.. It’s the receivers, it’s the tight ends, it’s the protection,” Hafley continued. Willis is by all statistical measures one of the weakest quarterbacks in the league with his arm, but at least he’s skimping some superflex QB2 value with his legs. There’s not much reason for the Dolphins to bench him either way, as they have nobody they pressingly need to evaluate. Willis should return after the Week 6 bye.
Penix said after Sunday’s loss that he didn’t believe his injury would be long-term. He was replaced by Tua Tagovailoa in overtime because of his injury, but he also added that he likely would have gone back on the field had the Falcons received the ball to start the extra quarter. Instead, Penix said his pain worsened the longer he sat, which was why he ultimately didn’t go back in. Penix’s status will be one to monitor throughout the week. If he can’t start in Week 6, Tagovailoa would be in line to start his first game of the season.
So, probably, then. The hand hasn’t really been a contributing factor to New Orleans’ decline so much as the Saints offensive line has just been in the blender for two weeks against Atlanta and Minnesota’s fronts, but it sure looks like Shough is managing through something and we should probably break ties against him in the rankings.
While this is good news for Jackson, Minter also said he wasn’t sure if Jackson would be back on the practice field on Wednesday. It was reported earlier on Monday that there was “some hope” that Jackson would play in Week 6 after he was “closer than people realized” to playing in Week 5 against the Falcons. This is shaping up to be another week where we are forced to monitor Jackson’s practice status up until Friday, when the team releases its final injury report. The Ravens are 4-1 and set to face a 3-2 Browns team in a pivotal AFC North matchup. If Jackson is unable to start, Tyler Huntley would make his second start of the season.
We weren’t exactly worried about Skowronek siphoning many targets away, but with him out of the pecking order entirely Germie Bernard should be a wheels-up WR3 for Week 6 now that both Skowronek and Roman Wilson have been ruled out.
Shanahan confirming this will be a multi-week absence isn’t surprising, but we still aren’t clear on just how much time he could miss. We’ll likely get a more specific timeline in the days ahead, but it sounds like we can safely assume Samuel will miss Week 6’s game against the Commanders and Week 7’s game against the Falcons. Jacob Cowing and Brandin Cooks could both be in line to see more work in the weeks ahead, with Cooks perhaps being the favorite to get the first crack at replacing Samuel. Cooks’ 11 routes run in the second half of Sunday’s game led all 49ers, including Mike Evans, and he found the end zone on a seven-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to put the Niners ahead with just over 11 minutes left in regulation.
He had four catches on 12 targets and it felt worse than that. Wayne will likely resurface on the Texans practice squad upon clearing waivers.
Smith hasn’t been seen on the practice field since Week 3 ended, so to say the practice week matters would perhaps be underselling it. Expect Smith to play if he practices at all, though, as the veteran often has suited up with little practice time in the past.
Sirianni was asked about both Barkley and DeVonta Smith, who is also dealing with a hamstring injury. Sirianni didn’t commit to either player practicing this week, but we’ll see how things look on Wednesday when the Eagles release their first injury report. Philly suddenly finds itself in desperate need of help at running back after Tank Bigsby (core) was placed on IR last week and Will Shipley (foot) was diagnosed with a partial tear in his plantar fascia that’s expected to sideline him for several weeks. If Barkley is unable to play in Week 6, Dameon Pierce and Jaydon Blue would be next in line to lead the Eagles’ banged up backfield.
It wouldn’t be surprising if he missed some practice time this week. Marcus Mbow would get snaps in Week 6 if Eluemunor were not able to go.
This was the exact outcome we expected after Greenlaw was ejected from Sunday’s game for headbutting Seahawks LB Ernest Jones on the sideline during a scuffle. Greenlaw, who was wearing a helmet, hit a helmet-less Jones and was immediately ejected and will now be suspended for one game without pay. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Greenlaw will appeal his suspension, but for now, he will miss Week 6’s game against the Commanders and be in line to return in Week 7 when the Niners visit the Falcons.
Monken was spotted in a walking boot after Sunday’s loss to the Jets, but Monken said his RB1 will have a chance to play in Week 6 against the Ravens. Judkins rushed 14 times for 44 yards last week and has a rushing line of 73-221-1 for the season, along with 18 receptions for 102 additional yards. Judkins’ practice status will be one to monitor throughout the week. If he’s not able to play, Raheim Sanders would likely handle the early-down work, with Jaleel McLaughlin mixing in as well.
“He’s produced, so it’s been heavy. It’d be great to get Rico back this week, too. ... Having him as a one-two punch was the vision of this offense, but Jaylen’s crushing it right now. He’s been awesome for us,” McCarthy continued. That’s a very telling “but.” Warren has to be regarded as the chair of a committee at this point rather than in a backfield split, and Dowdle probably doesn’t belong in the FLEX conversation coming off his injury until we see a good workload for him.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that Mendoza is going to take the reins this week; we expect Cousins to continue starting even if Raiders coach Klint Kubiak didn’t affirmatively get ahead of the situation in Sunday’s post-game. But Mendoza looked reasonable and this will obviously be something that will bubble up eventually. No. 1 overall picks don’t typically stay on benches too long.
The 30-year-old culture tonesetter has mostly only turned to fantasy relevancy when injuries piled up. The Lions had to use Amon-Ra St. Brown on returns after his injury and will likely seek a new returner off the practice circuit this week.
Moton was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list entering camp after it was revealed that he was dealing with blood clots in his lungs. The 32-year-old tackle now has 21 days to be activated from IR or be ruled out for the season, but we would expect him to be activated in the coming weeks. Moton earned a PFF offensive grade of 80.5 last season and allowed just three sacks and 22 pressures. In addition to Moton, the Panthers also designated DL Tershawn Wharton (neck) for return.
It was reported after Sunday’s game that the Packers believed Hargrave suffered a torn Achilles, so this news doesn’t come as a surprise. The 33-year-old lineman will now miss the remainder of the season and look to rehab in hopes of being back in time for training camp next season. Hargrave signed a two-year, $23 million contract with the Packers this offseason and has totaled six tackles in four games played.
Ryans said Woody Marks “will carry the load” for the team while Montgomery is sidelined. It’s been a tough start to the season for Montgomery, who scored three times in Week 1 but has been locked out of the end zone ever since while averaging a career-low 3.5 yards per touch. Marks has been slightly more efficient than Montgomery this season, but the Texans’ running game as a whole has left much to be desired. Marks’ expected workload makes him worth a waiver wire claim where available, but fantasy managers shouldn’t expect anything more than RB3 levels of production at this time. The Texans will take on the Jaguars in London in Week 6.
Brown has been rehabbing from a high-ankle sprain he suffered in the season-opener. It was reported on Sunday that Brown was walking without a limp, and last week NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that “the hope is” Brown will play in Week 6 against the Jets. The team has not opened his return window, which they will need to do in order for him to practice this week. Once that happens, the focus will then move to his practice status and whether or not he can log a full practice or two before the weekend. We would expect Brown’s 21-day return window in the next 24 hours if the team really believes there’s a chance he could return this week.
() The Lions defense! Quitoriano, Arizona’s No. 2 tight end, remains outside of the fantasy TE2 discussion. These were his first touchdowns since the 2022 season, doubling his career total to four.
Head coach Ben Johnson said on Sunday that Williams would be “close” to suiting up for Week 6, and he reportedly had a good workout before Week 5’s game against the Packers. Williams has missed the last three games with the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 2, but the Bears have managed to go 2-1 over that span. Williams logged one limited practice last week, after being a DNP on Wednesday and Thursday. If he can get on the practice field multiple days this week, it would be a good sign for his availability for next week’s game against the Falcons.
The Eagles’ running backs room continues to take hits. After losing Tank Bigsby (core) last week to a multi-week injury, the team is now preparing to be without Shipley for multiple weeks. Saquon Barkley, who missed Week 5 with a hamstring injury, could be back as early as Week 6 against the Panthers, but if he’s unable to play, the Eagles could be looking at Dameon Pierce and Jaydon Blue as their top two backs. Shipley totaled 13 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown on six touches before going down yesterday.
Schwesinger has not been ruled out for Week 6’s game against the Ravens, and attempted to play through the injury at one point. With a big AFC North matchup on tap for this week, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Browns gave Schwesinger every opportunity to play. His practice status will be one to keep an eye on throughout the week. The 2025 Defensive Rookie of the Year has totaled 43 tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble this season.
